New Is What Is Ever New

'Newness' has fascinations beyond all telling for all of us. 'New beginning', 'new job', 'new thought', 'new production', and alike show us the depth of human creativity and capacity to soar higher and higher to find newness in all walks of life. There is never a poverty of newness. There is a big rush everywhere especially these days, in the roads, in the malls, in the buses and trains, people busy going to and fro, buying and selling in view of  celebrating the new year to come. What has the new year to offer us, for which we spend our time, energy and material goods? Probably, it has the vital message to communicate that there are countless opportunities awaiting, endless risks to take, bottomless ocean of love that is unshared kept within. The new avenues of hope that tell us 'everything is not yet over'; there is a way to get around all our fears, worries, anxieties, uncertainties, pains and aches. In short, starting afresh or beginn

KENOSIS, THE MESSAGE OF CHRISTMAS             A couple of weeks back I came across an advertisement in the cyber space which caught my immediate attention and led me to think about as to what Christmas means today to millions of the so called ‘Christians’ worldwide and what its possible meaning could be. The advertisement, which I am referring to, was placed by an entertainment group in the United States of America, appealing to Christians worldwide to contribute to the Christmas celebration of the thousands of NATO soldiers stationed in Afghanistan.             One might ask, what is wrong with the advertisement? Is it not our privilege to show our solidarity to these men who are far from home fighting for a cause that their nations think they must? Well, it is neither my intention to get into the debate as to whether these men truly serve the humanity with the spirit of Christ nor to unravel the hidden meanings of the advertisement itself.
